Boxed rear-tine tiller
Shipping carton for compact powered equipment
Agricultural machinery freight class can vary with the finished shipping dimensions, total packaged weight, equipment configuration, and handling unit. Boxed power equipment, assembled implements, attachments, skidded components, and crated machinery can calculate differently.
To estimate your freight class, use the Agricultural Machinery Freight Class Calculator ↓.
A boxed rear-tine tiller shipment is preloaded as an example. Replace the outside dimensions and total packaged weight with your actual agricultural machinery shipment.

agricultural machinery shipping profiles
Agricultural equipment ranges from compact boxed machines to wide assembled implements. Packaging, folded transport position, projections, and skid or crate dimensions can materially change shipment density.
| Agricultural Machinery shipment | Common packaging | Density tendency | Stackability | Planning note |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Boxed tillers and cultivators | Heavy corrugated carton, internal blocking, or pallet | Medium | Often stackable only if the package is load-rated | Use the shipping carton dimensions, not the assembled operating dimensions. |
| Three-point implements | Skid, pallet, open frame, or assembled unit | Low to medium | Often limited | Measure hitch points, tines, guards, wheels, and other projections at their greatest outside points. |
| Agricultural attachments | Pallet, skid, crate, or steel frame | Varies | Conditional | Secure loose or movable components and use the completed handling-unit dimensions. |
| Compact machinery | Crate, skid, pallet, or reinforced carton | Medium to high | Conditional | Dense machines may have a relatively low class estimate even when the equipment requires careful handling. |
Agricultural machinery shipments vary by equipment type, transport position, packaging, and whether the unit is boxed, skidded, crated, or shipped assembled. Plan from the completed handling unit rather than the operating footprint alone.
| Measure | Use this value |
|---|---|
| Length | Longest outside point of the finished pallet, crate, carton, skid, or packaged handling unit. |
| Width | Widest outside point, including wrap, guards, corner protection, handles, projections, or overhang. |
| Height | From the floor to the highest point of the completed handling unit, including the pallet or skid. |
| Weight | Total packaged shipment weight, including the product, carton, crate, pallet, skid, blocking, and protective materials. |
Good to know: Density uses the complete transport footprint. A wide assembled implement can calculate very differently from the same type of equipment packed into a compact crate.

Freight classes shown on this page are density-based estimates for shipment planning.
