Machinery freight class can change substantially depending on the finished skid or crate dimensions, total weight, enclosure, and whether the load can support freight above it. Compact enclosed machines often produce denser estimates, while guarding, control panels, outriggers, and non-stackable tops increase occupied space.

- Block moving assemblies and protect controls, shafts, and hoses.
- Provide forklift openings and keep guards inside the skid footprint.
Machinery Stackability
- Only mark a machine stackable when the enclosure can support top freight.
- Use a load-bearing crate roof when controlled top loading is acceptable.
- Treat exposed, tall, or uneven machinery as non-stackable.
