- Align pallet footprints, alternate or nest only when designed to do so, and band the full stack in multiple directions.
- Remove or shield protruding nails, broken deck boards, splinters, loose blocks, and damaged stringers.
- Keep new, used, heat-treated, export-certified, repaired, and contaminated pallets separated and labeled.

- Uniform stacks can accept top load when footprints align and the bottom pallets are structurally sound.
- Mixed used stacks should be limited-stack because height, repair quality, and deck-board patterns may vary.
- Treat oversized, broken, irregular, contaminated, or low-count unstable stacks as non-stackable.

How to Measure a Packaged Wood Pallets Shipment
- Measure after pallets are aligned, nested or stacked, banded, corner-protected, and wrapped.
- Include bowed boards, broken projections, band protectors, and any footprint mismatch.
- Use total packaged weight of the pallet stack, bands, wrap, and protective materials.
